Re:

Though by the end of the run, Ken Muse was the only "familiar" name in the animator credits. I know that Ray Patterson left to form Grantray, but what happened to Irv Spence and Ed Barge? I don't know when Barge arrived but he was a director for Earl Klein at Animation, Inc. in 1963. F. F...

Hugh and Rudy Live/Animation

Here's the opening story from a Louella Parsons column from 1952. She buggered up Harman's name. If anyone knows about the cartoon sequence, let me know. I gather the movie was released under a different name ("Champagne Safari") and ended up on the TV Late Show by 1956. HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 12 (INS...

Fibber~ That's a fine piece of work on your part! Dating it IS indeed a little tricky since neither Jim Tyer nor Jim Davis, C.G. "Max" Maxwell or Charlie Thorson appear on it (while as noted curiously Bill Hanna does...). Maxwell was ALWAYS at the studio right up till Quimby lured him away......

This syndicated column is dated December 21, 1930. Yes, censorship back then (so please don't be misled to think the 1934 Production Code was the start of film censorship). And this is contained in Harrison Carroll’s ‘Behind the Scenes in Hollywood’ column, syndicated by Premier Syndicate, Inc. I found this and the ad attached in a paper of July 1, 1930. Notice the ad mentions Disney; his name seems to have started appearing in the popular press about this time. Cartoo...

How Disney Made Cartoons, 1930

Here's a little piece from the Kerrville Daily Times , Aug. 28, 1930. Probably no one will be surprised to read the part about how cartoons were made. Certainly it would have been interesting in 1930. There's no byline I imagine it's based on a studio news release. The picture of Mickey came with th...

He Didn't Sign it "Ben"

Bugs Hardaway's WW1 service is well-known, if not somewhat legendary. He also filled out a draft card for WW2 but didn't serve. I don't know the significance of the dates for this particular type of card, whether they were considered reserves or over-age or what. Somewhat odd, I thought, was he sign...
