Re: HB MGM Unit question

It's good to be able to post in GAC again, I've missed it.

I'm coming out of moratorium briefly to say.. I'm sorry to see GAC go. I did say I was leaving the site permanently, but didn't expect or want to be the last deserter before the whole thing came crashing down.

I was here since the TTTP was still a part of Toon Zone and learned a lot from it.

Arrivederci

Yeah, I think it's about time I said "Goodbye, forever" as well. The petty, and at times ridiculous bickering, has gotten out of hand, and the once-copious amount of meaningful discussion of classic cartoons has dropped down severely. So, I must bid GAC adieu. I would like to thank Steve Stanchfield...

We have pictoral evidence that Warner left the blackface gags The Milky Waif and The Truce Hurts alone. Those were two of the shorts cut for the first Spotlight Collection, so I think we can rule out censorship, accidental or otherwise.

DVNR, maybe? (Though again, Kitty Foiled looked pretty clean)

If you mean his name, Tashlin had a lot of his color cartoons BRed, while his later ones that avoided that fate never carried his name to begin with, because they were released after he left Warner's for the final time (over half of his first directorial term at WB also were in the B&W Looney Tunes...

Some screenshots have been posted on blu-ray.com (actually off-screen camera recordings). The blackface gags in Milky Waif and The Truce Hruts are present and accounted for, and the transfer of Kitty Foiled no longer has DVNR.

I think those are pretty big gains from the current spotlights.

The splice in Naughty But Mice is incredibly noticable, too. You'll still hear Herman talking for a brief bit after the picture cuts to proto-Katnip sleeping.

Republic (as opposed to NTA) put out Cartoonies tapes for Casper, Little Lulu, Betty Boop, Gabby and at least one Christmas compilation. Is that the one that has "Lulu in Hollywood", "Beau Ties", and "Man's Pest Friend" (plus a couple of PD Lulus)? I definitely remember renting that tape from a "mom...

FWIW, The tape that my copy was dubbed from is a Little Lulu tape from 1983, back when Republic and NTA were still separate entities.

I have a copy that's dubbed from vhs. It's not one of Famous' better efforts.
