I've always found it strange to see WWII references in cartoons that were made and released before the U.S. entered the war. Of the top of my head, there's Robinson Crusoe Jr. and Meet John Doughboy.

You could've seen the 1968 colorized version. I personally haven't so I'm not sure what colors were used, but I know a color version was made.
