Don't you people know better than to take the word of a Spumco alumnus at face value?

Shout! has licensing deals with Sony and Classic Media, so that worked out for us.

What I'm interested in is; will Sony do remasters for the Magoo shorts like they're doing for the Jolly Frolics, or will they hand Shout! the off-the-shelf TTI copies.

Does Thad's melodramatic outburst mean that Pierce is NOT the narrator? I can't tell.

Much of this might come from Michael Maltese. He's the one who did the ending to cartoons like "Little Red Riding Rabbit" and "Hare Force" for Friz.

Yeah, the restored video looks much better in HD and in motion than any of the previous screenshots.

In fact, Warner should've just dropped all this "comparison" malarkey and just shown the pristine remastered video.

No. Nobody else is except for you.

I thought the UPA shorts had already been restored for Totally Tooned In. What little we've seen from those restorations seemed more than adequate for DVD.

A guy on Cartoon Brew said it best; this was created so the Warner Archive page already on Facebook no longer has to deal with theatrical cartoon questions, and people desperate for new releases have some new page to blow them off.

The Spotlight Collection is overly washed out and gray. The laserdisc preserves the bright colors and balance even with the softer analog transfer.

The PAL version looks like a darker version of the laserdisc. I still prefer the latter since it looks the most like 40's Technicolor.

Again, the laserdisc looks the best. Ironically, it most likely came from a print that received no restoration.

The laserdisc would have also derived its master of that cartoon from surviving elements. So why is the color so much better on the inferior media format?
