I'm not seeing a whole lot of improvement in the "restored" DVD version. As a matter of fact, the older laserdisc looks the best of the bunch.

The latest in this is that FOX could make hundreds of millions of dollars by cancelling the show . The original 1994 syndication contract excludes cable and online streaming. Netflix paid through the nose to get Mad Men, and they most assuredly would do the same for The Simpsons. Plus cable networks...

My question is: Why would they go that that much trouble for a reissue? Warner Bros. was the most tightwadded and parsimonious of all the Golden Age studios, barring MAYBE Terrytoons, with the lowest budgets per cartoon on the West Coast. Why would they spend money to redo backgrounds and animation ...

When was that cartoon made? I though America didn't know what was going on in Germany with the camps until they invaded towards the end of the war.

Even though it's not restored, I will say that those clips of The Friendly Ghost are the least murky I've ever seen that cartoon look.

I was actually in the same boat as Thad and Mike R. when I first heard of this. But it grew on me, because it IS well-designed and it IS well-animated. Adventure Time and its ilk leave me cold for their complete and utter lack of any sort of aesthetic appeal (I mean, most of the "creator-driven" sho...

I've heard that the original 1984 pressing of the tape is unedited, but that the more common 1988 version (with Droopy tied to a rocket on the cover) is edited.

Not that I disagree with Thad or Mark J, but things are not called forbidden fruit because they're common or that there's an abundance of people encouraging others to experience them.
