Here's DVDBeaver's page on the recent Alice blu-ray. Take note of the dramatic and damaging overhaul on once-harmonious colors like Alice's hair. There's no question similar alteration has been done to Dumbo, in order to make it palatable to those with gigantic HD screens. Also, I've been told by ma...

Yeah, that Dumbo BD screenshot has all the earmarks of digital monkeying. It looks bad on a screenshot, and must look even worse on a big-screen TV. We're seeing that a lot in the HD era, not just at Disney but elsewhere. Old movies are being run through the wringer because execs operate under the b...

The official word was that a group of nitrates for the early Tom and Jerry shorts were found. So naturally that'd imply original titles.

I don't understand how people could nitpick something as beyond reproach as a Tex Avery MGM cartoon, for some arcane or nebulous reason or another.

Do cartoons today suck THAT much that we're forced to cannibalize the ones that are actually good?

My brother said it best; Cow and Chicken is funny. I Am Weasel is that same kind of funny without the things that made Cow and Chicken annoying, namely Cow, Flem and Earl.

I have always felt that there is a top tier of animation studios. These would include: Disney , Fleischer , Warner , and M-G-M . Then, there is a second tier that would include Famous and Lantz . And then, that'd be only certain kinds of Fleischer; namely pre-Code, Popeye, Superman, and certain Col...

To be honest, though, I wouldn't have been that frank had John NOT done a million and one posts insulting Friz and, by proxy, the tastes of anyone who genuinely enjoys his cartoons (And to this day, I still don't get how Eddie Fitzgerald can compare cartoons like "Bugs Bunny Rides Again" to a sip of...

It made me wonder why Freleng is so bashed by certain people. Not to make too much of a popularity contest out of the various directors at Warner Brothers, because in general I liked them all, but Freleng's cartoons really make me laugh. I think I can safely and fairly say that 99% of this sentimen...

Not to put a damper on things, but considering how strict the studios and retailers are about breaking street date, the fact that Warner is sending out copies of this unannounced more than a month before its official release is almost like saying "we don't care about this DVD"

Warner apparently considered Odor of the Day to be a Pepe cartoon back in the 80's, because it was released on Pepe's Golden Jubilee VHS.

I HOPE it makes the cut. Dog Pounded would go HOPEFULLY on a Sylvester set, but where else could Odor of the Day be stuck?
