I know I've already done my tribute and farewell to GAC Forums, but somehow I don't think anyone will mind my recycling this one ... it's a very slightly re-edited version of my runner-up entry in the 2006 GAC anniversary contest! (If you do spot the edits, you'll win absolutely nothing, but what the hey.)
GAC FORUMS! HERE ARE 23 REASONS WHY I'VE COME TO TREASURE YOU:
George G.W.(?) Geezil, classic Segar creation and Fleischer adaptation (among other things). ;o)
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and lots more of him.
Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, & lots more of them.
Davison (Craig) and his sharing of a fine hoard of both toon knowledge & Rochester rock 'n' roll music.
Emmanuel Cruz, for all his help in cataloguing Cartoon Junction airings on WHSE/WFUT-TV back when.
Nelson Hughes, Krazy Kat-man and the very first GACer to have both befriended and met the Geezils in 3-D!
Avery (Tex).
George Liquor, American.
Educational Pictures, "the Spice of the Program."
Cooke (Jon), he of all those great games & contests, and one fine Silly Symphonies tape in the mail.
Andy Panda and all the Walter Lantz stars.
Ralph Bakshi, with or without John K.
Terrytoons!
One Hundred and One Dalmatians that never would have existed without Walt Disney and Xerox Corp.
Out of the Inkwell.
Newman's Laugh-o-Grams, and many other silent toon shorts brought to life anew for me by this next gentleman:
Stathes (Tom), for shocking loose the memory of my very first TV viewing of Farmer Alfalfa (at age 2!).
Felix the Cat (and his Magic Bag of Tricks).
Olive Oyl (and those two guys who are forever hanging around with her).
Ray Pointer, for his own undeniable scholarly gifts and unshakeable individuality.
Uncle Scrooge and all the Duckburg ducks.
Museum of Modern Art (The) (NYC). And hardly least:!
Sogturtle (Tim Cohea), his own huge file of toon factoids, and his helping hand with my Terrytoons VHS collection.
AND HERE'S TO ALL THE GREAT MOMENTS WE'VE SHARED HERE OVER THE YEARS, FROM GEEZIL (a.k.a. Burt Stein)!
