A Sad Day for the GAC, for it is being shut down

Postby LooneyTunerIan » Fri Oct 28, 2011 4:22 pm

Terrible News, folks.

As Jon Cooke announced, the GAC Forums will be closed after this weekend. :(

This was the only LT&MM-related forum for me to go. :( I don't know where else to turn to.

Will there ever be another GAC Forum again? :(

Several possibilities have been floated in the big thread.

Existing forum:
http://www.animationshow.com/forums/index.php?showforum=8

Owner floated the possibility of opening a forum:
http://www.intanibase.com/

Also, we could go all retro and retake usenet:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.animation.warner-bros/topics

That's a shame as this is the first forum I ever joined and it provided years of fun and laughs and had me meet new people and learn about the history of the classic cartoons. It is not the same without this forums and especially not the same without talking to Mr Stathes either.

I wouldn't mind going retro and all returning to usenet. After all, that's the way it was done back when I was a kid in the dial-up modem age. And it worked pretty well.

Although, I think the best thing would be either taking this forum or starting a new one.
Of course I'm entitled to the absolute best if I'm gonna actually pay for it.

I know. It's like most of ToonZone's community doesn't give a crap about classic or quality animation, and the Big Cartoon Forum seems rather small and sleepy nowadays.

If Jon Cooke was smart enough to read this forum topic, he'd know exactly how I'm feeling right now! :(

Jeez, talk about a late notice.I vote we migrate to Big Cartoon Forum.

I hope this board is going to be saved onto a terrabyte drive, its got a lot of good information on here that will be lost otherwise.

Ian, it sounds like you're going through the five stages of grief. Homer (though not a GAC cartoon character) will illustrate them for you:
