Cartoon Network Looney Tunes Listings: 11/30 to 12/04

There's really no Pepe cartoon I don't like. A lot of the ones from the early and mid-'50s ("Scent-imental Romeo", "The Cat's Bah", "Little Beau Pepe", "Wild Over You", etc.) are right up there with my favorites of Jones' entire directorial output.
"For Scent-imental Reasons" is really funny, but it's gotten a little over-exposed in recent years. And I still wish Cartoon Network would put back the glass case sequence. From what I understand, the cartoon was always broadcast uncut prior to 2004, when the Looney Tunes were starting to disappear from the network. If they were going to take issue with that gag, why'd they wait so long to do it?

They still removed Porky's "one horse town" line. Kind of hypocritical when many of CN's original shows contain similar humor.

In other words, air the LT cartoons as they were originally released. I appreciate being able to watch them on TV again, but eventually CN needs to stop censoring them.

I never really cared for any PLP shorts aside from "For Scent-imental Reasons". I think all the 12 ones after it were just theatre fillers, and remakes of an Oscar winning gem.
The ones I find remotely interesting are "Past Perfurmance" (only before PLP's appearance, because it's reminiscent to the stylized look of "The Dover Boys"), "Two Scent Worth" (because I love the Alps, but again only interesting before PLP) and "Really Scent", which is the only one with some originality.

Ah, Scent-imental Romeo is another one of my favorites! Can't believe I forgot that one.

It was interesting to see Foxy by Proxy again. That used to run constantly on tv 30 years ago. It is an oddball short - a non-Yosimite Sam early 50s Freling Bugs that harkens back 10 years. Bugs instigates trouble with dogs, including a Lenny type, and there is another recycling of Avery's old log off the cliff gag from All This and Rabbit Stew. Quite a contrast to Chuck Jones Bugs shorts made at the same time.

The whole opening sequence was ripped off the 1939 toon from Tex, "Of Fox and Hounds"!
Open the bridge varmint, open it I say....
CLOSE IT CLOSE IT, CLOSE IT UP AGAIN....
